USA Truck, Inc. (NASDAQ: USAK), a leading transportation and logistics
solutions provider, today announced the conversion of its Atlanta
terminal to a continuous, full-service Operations and support center.
The expanded facility’s 24/7 operating model reflects the Company’s
strategy for establishing predictive maintenance practices, designed to
reduce long-term costs and driver down time. It also strengthens the
Company’s customer service efforts by providing a physical presence in
the region.
“This expansion is part of USA Truck’s ongoing and comprehensive
reinvestment into our business, our equipment and our people,” said USA
Truck President and CEO John Simone. “The Southeast is a key growth
market for us and our enhanced Atlanta facility, led by new Terminal
Manager Pete Humphreys, enables us to better serve our customers in that
region and be closer to our driver team members.”
USA Truck also plans to hire additional drivers to increase its presence
throughout the Southeast.
Earlier this month, the Company announced it had received initial
delivery of 150 2014 Navistar International ProStar model tractors. The
order followed the 250 new tractors and 400 new trailers put into
service earlier this year.
USA Truck is also installing advanced computing and mobile
communications systems (including electronic driver logs) in its entire
fleet, enabling real-time driver and vehicle information to be
integrated with the Company’s home office and offering customers
enhanced visibility into the status of their shipments.
